Drum Major's Sash, 1st South Durham Militia, 1855 - 1881. This red woollen sash is edged in royal blue with silver lace trim. Two small, silver drumsticks are missing from the central 'trophy' badge. This sash was worn by the Drum Major, who was a Sergeant in charge of the Regiment's drummers.
