Bugle, 16th Durham Rifle Volunteers
Bugle, 16th Durham Rifle Volunteers, 1861. This bugle was presented to the 16th Durham Rifle Volunteers in October 1861 by Private Hamilton. It is made of copper with brass fittings. The 16th DRV was formed in Castle Eden, County Durham, in December 1860. The first commanding officer was Captain R C Bewicke. After amalgamations, this Castle Eden corps became a Company first in the 1st Volunteer Battalion DLI and then, after 1908, in the 5th Battalion DLI. Acc No: 978
