The man is Mr Walter Brotherhood, originally a policeman in Newcastle, Master of Lanchester Workhouse, 1877-1899. His wife, Mary, was matron. He died 5th May 1920 and was buried in Lanchester churchyard. This picture taken in front of the Deanery where he lived when he retired. House decorated for a coronation, probably Edward VII in 1902.
