Durham City, Claypath Congregational Church
The congregation are probably outside the building in Claypath first built in 1751 as a Presbyterian chapel. It became a Congregational chapel in 1821, and was then substantially reconstructed in 1885 as the United Reformed Church that survives to date. The costume here suggests a date in the 1850s or 1860s.
