Tunic, 5th Volunteer Battalion DLI

Sergeant's Full Dress Tunic, 5th Volunteer Battalion DLI, 1902-1908. This red jacket has green facings (collar and cuffs) and the shoulder titles are in green embroidery on red - '5', 'V', bugle, 'DURHAM'. On the upper right sleeve is the Sergeant's rank badge of 3 chevrons (stripes) in silver lace and just above the cuff are 4 five-pointed stars, given for 20 years' efficient service. The 5th Volunteer Battalion DLI had its Headquarters in Gateshead. It became the 9th (Territorial) Battalion DLI in 1908. Acc No: 213
