Mauser 'Broomhandle' Pistol

Mauser Pistol, Model 1896. This self-loading pistol - nicknamed the 'Broomhandle' - was made in Germany and has a calibre of 7.63mm. The internal magazine held 10 rounds of ammunition. This type of pistol with its distinctive wooden holster that could also be used as a shoulder stock was favoured by both British officers and Boers during the fighting in South Africa. Acc No: 102
