Bass Drum, 4 DLI

Bass Drum, 4th Battalion DLI, 1908-1918. This drum was made by Hawkes & Son and has a wooden shell with the skin heads tensioned with whitened ropes. Painted on the drum are the Royal Crest, Regimental badge and the DLI's Battle Honours up to the Boer War (1899-1902). During the Boer War both the 3rd & 4th (Militia) Battalions DLI saw active service in South Africa. Acc No: 389
