Officer's Cross Belt Plate, 1st Durham Local Militia, 1809-1816. This gilt plate (badge) bears the Royal cypher 'GR' and the Regiment's name. The 1st Durham Local Militia was an infantry regiment formed in 1809 by John Trotter from the Darlington Legion and the Teesdale Volunteer Infantry. This Regiment was disbanded in 1816. Acc No: 1631
