Photograph, 68 Light Infantry

Photograph of an unknown Lance Corporal, 68th Light Infantry, about 1854. This photograph has been printed on glass (now cracked) and then coloured on the back with red, green, white and black paint. It may once have been a lantern slide but is now set in a gilt metal and wood frame. The unknown Lance Corporal is wearing his undress uniform of a red shell jacket with green facings (collar and cuffs) and a round, forage cap with the Regimental badge. An old label on the back of the frame notes that it was discovered "amongst some old papers" in the DLI's Depot in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1918. Acc No: 647
