Full Dress, 2 DLI

Officer's Full Dress Uniform, 2nd Battalion DLI, 1881-1883. The scarlet tunic (jacket) has white facings (collar and cuffs) and gold lace and the gilt buttons bear a stringed bugle horn below a Victorian crown. The helmet is covered in dark green cloth with a large gilt plate (badge) with a silver centrepiece. This uniform belonged to Major Frederick Dawson, who was serving with the 106th Light Infantry when it became the 2nd Battalion DLI in 1881. This uniform was made in July 1881. Acc No: 234
