Khaki Tunic, 4 DLI

Other Rank's Service Dress, 4th Battalion DLI, 1900-1902. This cotton khaki tunic (jacket) has brass DLI bugle collar badges and brass buttons. It was worn by Lance Corporal Trotter of Bishop Auckland. He was in the 4th (Militia) Battalion DLI but served in South Africa during the Boer War with the 1st Battalion DLI. The white canvas sack, with brass fittings, carried a soldier's rations (food).
