2nd North Durham Militia was raised in Durham City in 1853. Permanent staff (Sergeants) and their families outside main door of Gilesgate Militia Barracks (now Vane Tempest Community Centre, Gilesgate), about 1874. Note: Full dress and undress uniforms.
