Consett, Black Hedley Hall

Caption in album (c.1934) reads "Remnant of Black Hedley Hall (1750 reference). Residence of a branch of the Hopper family, which was embellished with three busts and with figures upon an attached dovecote of two shepherds in highland costume with dogs. These together with the warlike figures crowning the entrance archway [Greenhead Arch] inspired the 'sculptor' idea in the celebrated John Graham Lough." Exact location unknown - Lough was born at "Grenhead, a hamlet near Consett".
