Darlington, Bondgate, Fothergill Monument
The drinking fountain unveiled on 11 June 1862 in memory of John Fothergill MRCS (d.1858), first president of the Darlington Total Abstinence Society. Those present included: William Thompson, President of the Darlington Temperance Society; Alfred Kitching and Mr R Thompson representing the Local Board of Health; John Horsley, William Fothergill and Edward Pease. The monument was moved to South Park in 1875.
