Durham City, Neville's Cross
Neville's Cross, erected in 1346 to commemorate a nearby victory against the Scots, was vandalised in 1589. It survived but by the late 19th century had become this sad relic. Copied from an original postcard, probably published after 1900 from an earlier photograph.
